Mr. Jonathan Roberts Interviewed by Lynne Ashby, 2017
Jonathan Daniel Roberts decided to enlist in the United States Air Force when he got out of high school.
He enlisted because he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his loving father who was previously in the United States Military. Jon thought long and hard about which branch he should enlist in and eventually chose the Air Force after using a process of elimination and some recommendations from family friends.
Jon has many good memories of his experiences while serving our country. He traveled several places in and out of the United States. He tells stories about some of his experiences and the bonds that he had made with his fellow soldiers.
Jon was in the United States Air force from 1994-1998, and he then joined again and went back from 2001-2005. Jon’s service set him up for his career today. During his time in the service he did security and law. When he got out, he went right to work for the Milton-Freewater Police. His career has continued as he went to work for the Pendleton Police Department and now he works at the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office as a deputy. If it wasn’t for his time in the Air Force Jon said that he wouldn’t have the career or be where he is today.
Jon is now married to Kerri Roberts and has four children. He is still going strong with his career now as a police officer. Jon encourages young men and women to join the United States Military to serve their country.
