Ms. Marguerrite Jordan was a welder and riveter for the Willamette Shipyards in Portland, Oregon during World War II...a real-life "Rosie the Riveter."
To clarify and elaborate the information on the prologue: John and Marguerite were together until about 1978, and built a family for over 30 years after the war.
Highlights of the history after the war were that the couple had six children together, lived in several areas of Oregon where at one time Marguerite was a deputy sheriff, and the two also owned and operated the Battle Mountain Cafe and store.
John and Marguerite also lived in Ukiah for a long time, and after that were the caretakers of Ritter Hot Springs for something like 10 to 15 years. They were gifted a ranch at Ritter Junction by Edith Gray, for their work at Ritter Hot Springs, and for their work in caring for her.
The couple divorced in 1978, and Marguerite opened a restaurant outside of John Day Oregon. There is more to her story, including another marriage, before she ended up marrying Bud Jordan.
